The Yze

Born, raised, and currently residing in Pretoria, 'The Yze' is an Afro-Soul-Rapper who has a natural affinity and love for his city and fellow countryman. His love for people expands beyond the borders of his country. Music to him is an extension of his soul which looks to connect with his inner self and others around the world. He first embarked on his musical journey in Grade 5 where he wrote his first rhyme, unbeknownst to him that it would be the start of something much bigger. After a period of dormancy, The Yze's passion for writing and recording music was reignited in 2011, where he began to record songs with artists such as Daev Martian and Thomas Hazey. This passion continued when he moved to the St. Louis, Missouri, USA for four years for his undergraduate degree. The Yze continued to work on his first mixtape, 'The Real EP', during his studies with numerous artists and producers such as Dwayne Ferguson, Kiddy Romeo, Stacey Reynolds ('Volume'), JG, Lewis Hodge, and a whole list of other talented individuals. This path led to his appearance in a music video, where he had a featured verse (Kiddy Romeo's 'I'm The Sh!t'). The Yze continued to release several singles and two other EPs ('Y Series' and '4WUW3') on Soundcloud and is now currently working on his first commercial project 'Wolf'. The project 'Wolf' is still ongoing and three of the singles have currently been released ('Can't Figure It Out', 'Shade', and 'Common'). Throughout this process, The Yze has performed at Homecoming Africa, Tshwanefontein, and at Super Bock's Open Mic at Something's Cooking by J in 2019. The path is still at the foundation stage for The Yze as his potential and plans for the future continue to unravel in front of the universe.
